Five Ways to Identify Legitimate Recruitment Agencies

A. IDENTIFY THE AGENCY IF IT IS LICENSED BY THE PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT LABOR OFFICE

It is important to scrutinize the status and validity of your desired recruitment agency before you will build trust with them. Try to find the POEA sticker in a visible place in the agency. This is one of the proofs if the agency still permitted to operate. If you are skeptical, call the POEA and check the current status of the agency’s license.

B. ASK THE AGENCY IF THERE IS A JOB ORDER FROM THE FOREIGN EMPLOYER

Job order is an authentic evidence that the agency offers a legitimate work from the foreign employers. POEA is authorized to know if the agency has a job offer by the agency’s effort to report it to the labor government agency.

C. ASK THEIR CURRENT JOB POSITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

It is necessary to ask the agency about the description of the current job offers, and this will lead to know if the offer is available to the applicants.

D. KNOW THE COVER OF THE PLACEMENT FEE

There are bogus and abusive agencies will try to deceive applicants about this issue. It is your privilege to know if certain job offers and location of the employer's company will need a placement fee. Almost of the offers from the Gulf Region do not require a placement fee. If ever the job will require a placement fee, ask the entire cover of the fee.

The government labor office stated that the equivalent of the placement fee must be aligned to the one-month salary of the worker. This legal matter on placement fee should be included in the employment contract.

If you feel this matter is being violated, be alarmed that the agency is not good to give your trust.

E. FIND OUT THE SUPPORT OF THE AGENCY

Many applicants never consider this matter. It is important to know the support of the agency if they could render support in case you encounter problems with the foreign employer.
